If you love baseball and would love to be able to hit like the big leagues, or be able to teach your kids how to hit, then a few simple batting techniques will help you get started.
If you are teaching your child how to hit a ball, then you will want them to start out on a tee. The tee will allow the ball to sit there while you teach your kid hand-to-eye coordination. Better yet, before you give them a bat, have them practice hitting a whiffle ball off the tee with only their hand so that they learn that their arms are an extension of the bat.
Once they have mastered the tee, toss them some baseballs or whiffle balls underhanded from a short distance. Have another adult help them with the bat if needed. Again, have them meet the ball with the bat in one slow smooth motion. Continue backing up until you can pitch to them overhand.
The most important thing to remember is to keep your eye on the ball. Never turn your head to look away while you swing.
These techniques will also work with adults at whatever level they are currently at.The information doesn’t stop now. Keep looking: Happy Fourth of July!
